Making a Tag System Kit
Tags come in pairs of one big and one small tag. The big tag goes on a bike and the small tag goes in the patron's pocket. They should be stored in order and used in order so that bikes are always findable.
A big tag measures 9cm x 5cm (3.5”x 2”) or larger and is made from printed 14mil polyester with a scuff protective laminate on both sides (1.7mil or similar). The exact product available may depend on your local print shop but it is important to ensure scuff protection and overall durability. Each big tag needs a hole in the top corner, where a carabiner can be easily attached.
For ease of printing, use an easy to read monospaced font for letters and numbers. This will save time in the adjustment of kerning. Using your branding colors for the exact colors of tags is a nice touch, but ensure they are different enough from each other color that it will not cause confusion.
A small tag uses the same materials plus a durable plastic key fob. The exact dimensions of the tag will differ depending on the size of the fob but will likely be slightly larger than 5cm x 2.5cm (2” x 1”).
